We all goals that we want to achieve. Energy is the fundamental key to our dreams, goals, and success.

We usually go through a cyclical experience of high and low energy modes. In this article, you will understand how to control these modes and switch to a high energy mode whenever you want to.

Garry Kasparov, a former world chess champion from Russia, is considered the greatest chess player of all time.

When he was preparing for the World Championship match, he used to run, swim and play soccer for 3 hours every day. He would spend the rest of the day practicing chess. Even though physical training was not required at all, he made sure to do it consistently.

What was never ending his source of energy?

To understand this, let’s first learn more about ‘where did energy saving mode come from?’

For 1000 years of evolution, where risk and uncertainty were high, it was advantageous to save energy because there was no guarantee about the next meal. That’s why we were instinctively prone to conserving energy and not doing exhaustive work.

In fact, a lion’s lifestyle is similar to a man’s. If a lion is not hunting, it spends its day sleeping or relaxing. Similarly, humans are prone to staying in an energy saving mode.

Myth: People who work a lot get tired, while those who don’t, are full of energy.

Truth: People who keep themselves busy for most of the time are often more energetic and motivated.

The 3 secrets to being Highly Energetic

1. Have goals. They are powerful!

There are times when you’re lazing on your couch, randomly scrolling through your social media page, and you suddenly have an urge to drink some coffee. But then you feel too lazy to get off the couch for such a “trivial reason” and then you choose to spend more time on the couch.

Ever wondered, why you always end up choosing the latter option?

The answer is very simple.

Your body is regulated to generate energy when you actually need it.

 

For having a high energy mode, it is important to set certain goals. When your brain understands that you have goals to achieve, it will naturally generate high energy. This energy will help you to accomplish your goals. Moreover, you would be able to do so many amazing things in your life with this energy.

2. Being happy can be very energizing!

John Lennon, a famous singer from 'the Beatles', was once asked by his school teacher, “What do you want to do when you grow up?”

He replied, “I want to be happy.”

His teacher then told him that it was not an appropriate answer and asked him if he wanted to become a doctor or an engineer or something else. But John didn’t change his answer. He said that his mother told him that he was going to be happy.

This attitude helped him to become one of the greatest singers of all time and achieve a long list of hit records.

Happiness is very effective. It not only elevates your attitude but also your energy mode.

Here is another interesting story –

Once a guy saw 3 guys dragging stones:

The first guy looked depressed while dragging the stone.

The second one looked okay.

The third guy looked very cheerful.

The stranger was surprised and decided to approach them. The first guy said that he was depressed because he was tired of dragging the stones - understandable.

The second one said that he was fine with dragging the stones because he was making money through it to feed his family - logical.

The third guy said that he was cheerful not because he liked dragging the stones because, with that, a temple was being built.

If you choose happiness as your first priority, everything you do will be enriching.

Here is one more story from my personal experience –

When I was on a vacation, I went skiing. At that time, I saw a bunch of people skiing for long hours, even though skiing is an energy draining activity. However, all these people were happy while doing it.

In fact, you will be surprised to know that when the very same bunch of people are back to their routine, they will struggle to exercise even for half an hour!

They are able to ski with so much ease because it brings them joy and happiness.

Thus, if you find happiness in doing something, you will always feel energetic while doing it.

3. Your surroundings have a profound effect on you!

Your surrounding matters.

Many people tend to take your victory as their loss. They simply don’t want anyone else to be more successful than them.

Such a thought process is known as the “crab mentality” – if you put a group of crabs in a bucket, you will observe that if one crab is trying to get out of the bucket, other crabs will pull the crab down.

Similarly, some people may try to bring you down and demotivate you. That's why it is important to surround yourself with people who are optimistic and support you in whatever you do in life.

To conclude, the above 3 things are the secret factors to your energy levels. In fact, if you implement even one of these things to your daily routine, you will be much better than what you are now.

Some people think that energy is linked to body condition. If you're healthy, you will be full of energy. Though it is true to an extent, it is not enough.

For example, Kōnosuke Matsushita, the founder of Panasonic, is one of the richest people in the world. He had poor health during his entire life. However, he lived up to 94 years! Moreover, throughout his life, he was very active and did many different things.

Is it possible to have such high energy mode with poor health?

Well, your energy is determined by your brains and not your body. Being healthy is always a good thing but it is not the primary factor to elevate your energy level.

Make sure to develop energy to live the quality of life you deserve. Enjoy things, be happy and worry less. Because happier people are more energetic.
