How To Enjoy Life More? 3 Proven Ways

How to enjoy life more and do you want to live happily? Like most of us, if your answer is yes, then you will learn how to enjoy life more in this article.

Many of us assume that our habits, routines or bank balances are responsible for our happiness. Indeed, the rich and famous seem to be very happy, right?

Well, in reality, your bank balance has little to do with your happiness. In fact, there are many wealthy people out there who are stressed.

You can enjoy your life with what you already have. In fact, you can start enjoying your life right now!

Enjoying life is all about shifting your mindset.

With these 3 simple techniques, you can enjoy your life to the fullest, starting TODAY!

1. ‘Bright Spot’ Theory

The bright spot theory enables you to think in the right direction. Here’s what Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter, has to say about this theory:

“When everything around you seems terrible, and there doesn’t seem to be anything going right, try to find something, anything good that’s happening.”

This quote tells you to be optimistic. That is, in any situation, you must focus on what’s working rather than figuring out what’s not.

For example, having less money seems like a major drawback? But it could also have some advantages.

For example, while I was studying in Singapore, I observed that people were uncomfortable when other people around them were richer than them. They tried to avoid interacting

with them. So, on the bright side, if you have less money, it seems like you can be friends with people in no time!

Generally, we think that being introvert is a drawback. The truth is, they have their own gifts and talents. In fact, many designers and writers are introverts.

Here’s an interesting story to demonstrate the same-

A developing nation had a very high infant mortality rate. A hospital in New York decided to donate expensive incubators to help this nation lower its infant mortality rate.

A year later this hospital from New York checked on them. Since this developing nation couldn’t fix these incubators, the infant mortality rate was still really high.

That’s what attracted the attention of a doctor from Boston. Instead of fixing incubators, he tried finding what was working in this developing nation.

That’s when he noticed that there were a lot of old Toyota trucks that were still running. He observed that people, there, we're good at fixing Toyotas. So, he worked with a design lab to come up with an infant incubator made out of automotive parts, where the headlight was the warming mechanism. These incubators were designed in such a way that the local mechanics could fix it.

That's a great example to explain how exactly the bright spot theory works. It brightens your mood as well as gives you positive results.

To summarise, this theory conveys that you need to train yourself to find those BRIGHT SPOTS in every situation that you're going through. After a while, you will get used to this habit and you will no longer need to do it consciously.

2. Live In the Moment.

A similar concept called ‘Be Here Now’ is suggested by popular spiritual author Ram Dass. Also, Eckhart Tolle wrote the book “The Power of Now,” where he spoke about this concept.

Basically, the concept is pretty straightforward. Usually, we experience anxiety because our thoughts are not in the present moment. Instead, we keep worrying about the future. Though most of the time, whatever we worry about doesn’t actually happen. Another reason we commonly feel anxious is that we overthink past experiences. In worrying about the future and overthinking the past, we forget to live in the present.

The best examples, of living in the moment, are dogs and cats. They simply enjoy the present moment. They don’t need a reason to be happy.

Why is it so?

Because they don't worry about the future. They don't think about tomorrow. They don't think about whether they will be able to find food tomorrow or not. They simply enjoy the current moment.

Of course, at times, you need to plan and think about the future. You cannot deny all the thoughts about the future. But living in the moment energizes you and relieve your stress.

Here’s an easy exercise you can do daily for just 1 MINUTE.

All you need to do is to enjoy your current moment. Without thinking about the future or past, just look around and enjoy what's going on.

“As long as you have certain desires about how it ought to be you can't see how it is.” - Ram Dass

To be genuinely happy, you must concentrate your mental energy on the present moment.

Try this quick exercise. It will definitely relieve your stress and leave you feeling much happier.

3. Practise Random Acts of Kindness.

When we think to make our lives happier, we tend to think, ‘What do we want?’ or ‘What do we want to do?’

The research says that 85% of happiness is determined by our relationships with other people.

So should we develop our relationships?

The best way to receive a smile is to give a smile. The same applies to acts of kindness.

When you do something nice for someone (for example: something nice to barista rather than just ordering a coffee), this will make that person smile and at the same time, you will feel positive.

During my Singapore trip, we were lost and were trying to figure out the route to the destination. That’s when a stranger stopped by and offered to help us out. That touching incident is still etched in my memory.

You can do the same thing. If you have something at home that you don’t use anymore, donate it. You can volunteer for an hour every week. It may not make a huge difference to you, but it will definitely make you will happier.

No matter how big or small your good act is, the response you will get in return will make you happier and more content.

There’s no secret formula to enjoying life.

Just make sure that you are enjoying your life EVERYDAY! All you need is a little change in your perspective and a few adjustments in your routine.
